Seelos Academy to host used clothing and household good drive

Fall is the perfect time to begin decluttering for the holidays. Bring any gently used clothing and household items to the Blessed Francis Seelos Academy school parking lot behind Saint Alphonsus church in Wexford from 9 a.m. – noon on Saturday, Nov. 9.  St. Vincent De Paul will bring a truck and will accept gently used donations for their stores.

St. Vincent De Paul serves more than 100,000 neighbors in need through a variety of direct services including clothing, furniture, housing, utility assistance, food, medical care and transportation. The thrift stores serve as outlets for clothing and household items to needy individuals and families in the Pittsburgh area.

These items will be accepted:  Clothing, shoes, purses, and accessories for women, men, and children;  Home goods: linens, artwork, framed mirrors, baskets, decorative items; very small furniture; toys, games, and stuffed animals; Media: records, compact discs, DVDs.

Sorry, these items will not be accepted: Televisions, appliances, infant car seats and cribs, swing sets, pianos/organs, entertainment centers, hutches, armoires, china cabinets, bookcases, medical equipment, sewing machines, automotive parts, mirrors without frames, hangers, VHS tapes, textbooks, magazines, encyclopedias, couches, anything associated with the bed: mattresses, box springs, frames, headboards, futons, sleeper sofas. Building supplies: doors, vanities, cabinets, countertops, lumber, light fixtures, ceiling fans, excessively large, heavy or multi-part furniture.
