Pine-Richland Athletic Hall of Fame announces first-ever inductees

The Pine-Richland Athletic Hall of Fame Committee is announcing the first-ever Athletic Hall of Fame class of inductees. Approved in March of 2019, the Pine-Richland Athletic Hall of Fame honors and recognizes those associated with Pine-Richland athletics who have experienced significant accomplishments in their chosen sport or sports. The inaugural class of 2019 will include:
Megan Klingenberg: The 2007 Pine-Richland High School graduate was a member of the United States women’s national soccer team, participated in the 2016 Summer Olympics, and plays in the National Women’s Soccer League.
Jack McCurry: The 1967 graduate earned six varsity letters as a three-year starter in football and track. football and basketball and ran track and field at Richland High School. In his junior year he led the 1965 Rams to the Allegheny Valley Interscholastic Conference) Championship. He later coached WPIAL football.
Ossie Santacroce: Mr. Santacroce was hired in 1957 as an Industrial Arts teacher and was hired as the first athletic director of Pine-Richland School District in 1962 and served through 1984. He also served as a varsity basketball coach. The field at Richland Elementary was named after him.
Eugene Sullivan: Mr. Eugene Sullivan coached the Richland High School Football team helping the 1969 and 1970 teams to the WPIAL Football Championship. He was the all-time leader in football wins at PR with a total of 84 wins in his 12-year tenure.
Neil Walker: The 2004 graduate helped lead the Pine-Richland Football Team to a PIAA Championship title and was a standout baseball player. In 2004, he was the first WPIAL player to be taken in the first round of Major League Baseball in 26 years.
1969 Football Team: The team was the first undefeated football team in Richland High School history. Their success led to the WPIAL Championship Title.
The inductees will be honored at the Pine-Richland High School Stadium, 704 Warrendale Rd. in Gibsonia, at 6:45 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2019, prior to the PRHS football game. A banquet will be hosted in the PRHS Cafeteria at 6 p.m. on October 5, 2019. Tickets will be sold to the public. Additional communication will be sent out when ticket sales are ready.
