My name is Carly Rippole, and I am a 2010 graduate from Pine-Richland.

Upon graduation, I attended Penn State and majored in Agricultural and Extension Education. I am currently teaching high school agriculture at Derry Area High School and was awarded Outstanding Early Career Teacher of the year.

I teach classes in Floral Design, Intro to Horticulture, Vet Science, Equine Science, Natural Resource and Ecology, Plant Science, etc. We also offer Ag Mechanics and different large and small animal classes.

People from the district are not aware about agricultural education, and I thought this award would be an awesome time to shed some light on the opportunities in agriculture and how to get there through a high school Ag program.

One in seven people are engaged in an agricultural career, and it is the No. 1 industry in Pennsylvania.
