On Friday, Blessed Francis Seelos Academy students in Susan Gazzo and Kim Van Kooten’s first grade classes were visited by a local children’s book author.
According to the profile for Philip Damiani on Amazon, Philip is “new to the publishing world having spent the last 40 years practicing professional engineering/management and as the CEO of DQE Energy Services.”
“Philip was motivated to take a bedtime story he imagined and told to his daughters many years ago and write a children’s book entitled “Penny Penguin Finds Her Way Home.”
Philip read the story to the students and entertained questions from the young readers about becoming an author. The students also received a copy of the book.
“It was epic meeting a real-life author and having him read us his story. My favorite part was how Wally the Whale had tattoos! I got my owned signed copy of the book and I’m going to read it to my brothers”, said Jack Ries, age six.
All net royalties from the book are donated to the Mario Lemieux Foundation.
Blessed Francis Seelos Academy is a preschool through 8th grade Catholic School located in the North Region of the Diocese of Pittsburgh. Seelos Academy was established in 2017 through a merger of St. Alexis Parish School and St. Alphonsus Parish School. Located on two campuses in Wexford, Blessed Francis Seelos Academy integrates Catholic teachings with the culture, key values and traditions of family and community
