Host an AFS Exchange Student
Thursday, May 2, 2019 | 7:52 AM
AFS Intercultural Programs is seeking families now to host an AFS exchange student at Pine-Richland High School for the 2019-20 school year. As an AFS host family, you will welcome a new member into your home, share your everyday lives, and grow as you get to know one another. You’ll be surprised at how much you learn about yourself and your family and community by hosting a student from another culture.
AFS exchange students come from more than 80 countries. Volunteers will work with you to find the best student to fit your family and will support your family, your student, and the school in gaining the most from the hosting experience. AFS welcomes all families that are willing and able to provide a safe and loving home for an AFS student. There is no “typical” AFS host family. Families can have small or teenage children at home, be empty nesters with adult children, or be couples with no children. Single adults and single parents are also welcome.
AFS has been a leader in international high school exchange for more than 70 years and has been an integral part of the Pine Richland community since the early 1960s; 101 AFS exchange students from a total of 39 countries have lived with Pine-Richland families and studied at the high school during that period.
Have a life-changing experience in your own home! To learn more about becoming an AFS host family, go to https://www.afsusa.org/host-family/, click on “Learn More”, and submit your contact information. A local AFS volunteer will contact you.
