Pine Community Center hosting Earth Day Celebration

Saturday, March 7, 2020 | 10:05 AM

Pine Community Center is hosting their annual Earth Day Celebration on April 18 from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.

During the event Girl Scout, and Pine Community Center member, Katelyn Terchick will be unveiling new signs she created for the park’s wetland trail. Participants can enjoy snacks, eco-friendly crafts and recycling games.

The program will start at Pine Park Lake Pavilion. Terchick and Pine Community Center staff will lead an educational hike along the wetland trail, stopping at each of the four new signs. All attending will learn about the unique ecosystem of wetlands and the role they play in creating a healthy environment. After the hike everyone will meet back at the pavilion for a snack and craft. Participants will learn about wildflowers as they create a craft from flower seeds. The event will end with an Earth Day game that will teach children about recycling and composting.
At the end of the program Pine Community Center hopes that all who attend will have a better understanding of some of Earth’s unique ecosystems and how to help protect the natural world.

This event is free but all participants must pre-register for the event in person at the Pine Community Center or online. Register today.

Please dress for the weather.
*Daisy and Brownie Scouts can earn their environmental badge for participating.
