In it’s continued effort to introduce people to the outdoors, L.L. Bean Outdoor Discovery Schools hosted basic paddle boarding in the lake at North Park last week. Hosted year-round around the nation, L.L. Bean offers courses in kayaking, archery, fishing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, biking, canoeing, bird watching, outdoor fitness & yoga, hunter safety, hiking, camping, paddle boarding, children’s camps and much more.
The Pine Creek Journal was honored as the Weekly Newspaper of the Year by the American Legion Department of Pennsylvania on July 12 at the Hilton Harrisburg Hotel during the American Legion’s annual Department Convention. Bernard Halvorsen, vice president of marketing, media, fundraising and communications for the American Legion, and Dept. Cmdr. Jim Vollrath presented the award to editor Dave McElhinny. McElhinny was also recognized earlier this year for his work with a Keystone Award as columnist of the year.
