Police investigating after bullet discovered in cafeteria at Pine-Richland High School

Pine-Richland School District activated its safety response team Sept. 25 after a single, nine-millimeter bullet was found in the cafeteria at Pine-Richland High School. The bullet was found by a student and given to a staff member who shared it with the building administration.

According to a post on the district’s website, a threat assessment was conducted with the Northern Regional Police Department. Police remained at the high school and on the secondary campus into the early evening. An immediate investigation was initiated that includes student interviews and a review of surveillance video. The district currently has no information indicating that a threat has been made or that a weapon is in the building.

The high school operated on a modified lockdown yesterday afternoon – students remained in classrooms with hallway restrictions.

After school and evening activities continued as scheduled. A precautionary search of the high school was conducted.
