The Addams Family will have to wait.
Pine-Richland High School officials announced that they are postponing all performances of the spring musical because of concerns over the spread of coronavirus and recommendations that people avoid large crowds.
On Thursday morning, the district canceled the afternoon performance for senior citizens and the email about the remaining performances, scheduled for March 13, 14, 20 and 21, came later that night. There are plans to reschedule the performances for dates in the future.
“The countless hours dedicated to preparing for these performances by students, staff, and parents are significant,” officials wrote in the email. “This decision was based upon the ongoing communications with health professionals and the most current guidance from ACHD, CDC, and other local agencies. Additionally, Governor Tom Wolf and members of the PA Department of Health have recommended that all large group gatherings (over 250 people) postpone these events for at least 14 days effective Friday, March 13.”
The district also now has a podcast on its website providing information on contingency plans should the schools have to close for a period of time. That, as well as other communications regarding the virus, can be found at pinerichland.org under the “At Your Service” tab and then by clicking on coronavirus, or at https://www.pinerichland.org/Domain/1319.
