Teen organizes spaghetti dinner to buy e-readers for UPMC Children’s Hospital patients

A Pine Township teen will hold a spaghetti dinner Oct. 12 at the A.W. Beattie Career Center to raise money to buy e-readers for patients at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh as part of his Eagle Scout project.

The dinner, a pinewood car derby and other events are part of Pine-Richland High School sophomore Nathan Cottrell’s effort to raise $3,000 for e-readers.

The dinner will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Donations are being accepted for the meal, and takeout will be available.

Cottrell, 16, is a member of Boy Scout Troop 344, which meets at Salem United Methodist Church.
