Weekend happenings: Pancake breakfast, Slovenian polkas at Bakerstown United Methodist church

On Oct. 19, Bakerstown United Methodist Church invites the community to hear members of the Western PA Button Box Club play traditional Slovenian Style polkas and waltzes during a Pancake Breakfast. Come enjoy the music while having your choice of blueberry, buckwheat, chocolate chip or plain pancakes served with sausage, bacon, eggs, home fries and drinks. Breakfast is served from 8 to 11 a.m. and the price is $6 for adults, $3 for ages 6-12, and children under 6 eat for free. The church is located at 5769 William Flinn Highway in Gibsonia.
Fall Festival at Soergel Orchards
The Fall Festival at Soergel Orchards in Franklin Park will be open Oct. 19 and 20, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Fall Festival activities include a wide-variety of food and beverages, pumpkin and apple picking, tractor rides, a kiddie train, art activities, horse-drawn wagon rides, a working sluice to pan for gems, and much more. General admission is free. Soergel Orchards is located at 2573 Brandt School Road, Wexford.
Lantern Tours will be happening Oct. 19 and 26 at the Depreciation Lands Museum on S. Pioneer Road in Allison Park.
Mary Bliss Parsons’ fate will be determined as she is on trial for witchcraft in the 18th century as the story of this year’s Lantern Tour.
Visitors can arrive for the lantern tours anytime between 6 and 9 p.m. with the last tour leaving at 9 p.m. Cost is $7 for adults, nonmembers and members, and $5 for children 11 and younger.
