Northern Regional Police Department recently promoted two of it officers, and both were sworn in at the most recent Pine Township board of supervisors meeting.
Capt. Bryan DeWick and Lt. Jeff Jones took the oath of office Jan. 21 after taking their positions Jan. 1.
Jones is originally from Indiana Township and graduated from IUP with a degree in criminal justice, police Chief John Sicilia said. He’s been with the department since 2007, was promoted to sergeant in 2014 and is a 2018 graduate of the FBI National Academy, a 10-week course for active U.S. law enforcement personnel.
DeWick replaces Sicilia as captain. He comes from the city of Pittsburgh and is also a graduate of IUP, Sicilia said. He joined the department in 2000, was promoted to sergeant in 2014 and graduated from the FBI National Academy in 2016.
“I’m very honored to have both these men at my side,” Sicilia said. “I couldn’t have two better picks for the job.”
DeWick and Jones took the same oath at the most recent Richland board of supervisors meeting.
The police department now has a presence, Sicilia later told the board, on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. The department will be using the accounts to get notices and information to the public and provide a line of communication. They can be found on Facebook at facebook.com/NRPDAlleghenyCo and on Instagram and Twitter at @NRPDAlleghenyCo. Anyone who needs to report a crime or who needs assistance should call 724-625-3157 or 911 in the event of an emergency as the social media accounts will not be monitored in real time.
